Studies on the genetics of leukocyte antigens.

چکیده
NTIGENIC DIFFERENCES among human leukocytes are well established,14 and it is known that patients can be immunized against donor leukocytes with the development of agglutinating antibodies.5 Antibodies against leukocytes have been found in patients subjected to repeated blood transfusions, and the incidence of such immunization appears to be proportional to the number of transfusions given.6’7 In most cases the previous reports have been mainly concerned with the demonstration of leukoagglutinins, and few studies relevant to the problem of genetics are available. However, the demonstration that serum with leukoagglutinins obtained from multiply transfused patients may not react with all tested leukocytes,3 and that different leukocytes react differently with a panel of leukoaggltitinating sera,4 suggest that a classification of leukocyte “types” may be possible. The present study concerns a panel of sera containing immune leukoagglutinins, and their reactions with leukocytes of relatives and unrelated subjects.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS). The main cause of the MS is yet to be revealed, but the most probable theory is based on the molecular mimicry that concludes some infections in the activation of T cells against brain auto-antigens that initiate the disease cascade. Objectives: The Purpose of this research is the...
متن کاملمروری بر رابطه HLA و بیماری های پریودنتال
This review was focused on investigations in the relationship between human leukocyte antigens and periodontal disease. Several studies have looked for relationship between HLA phenotypes and early onset periodontitis (EOP). There have also been reports on both positive and negative relationship between specific HLA antigens and periodontal disease. Positive relationship has been reported among...
متن کاملP-145: Role of Human Leukocyte Antigen in Miscarriage
Background: During pregnancy, the maternal immune system is in close contact with cells and tissue from the semiallogenic fetus .The human leucocyte antigen (HLA) class Ib molecules, HLA-E, -F and -G, are expressed at the materno-fetal interface. Because of the apparent immunoregulatory functions of these proteins, they may be involved in successful acceptance of the semi-allogenic fetus during...

Background and purpose: Major histocompatibility antigens are the most polymorphic components of the immune system. The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of human leukocyte antigens (HLA) in a population in Mazandaran province, Iran. Materials and methods: In a cross sectional study, peripheral blood samples were obtained from 550 people in Immunogenetics Research Center af...

Background: Graves’ disease (GD), a highly rampant autoimmune disorder of the thyroid gland, is responsible for 60-80% of the clinical cases of hyperthyroidism. Over the past decades, genetic association studies have identified several GD susceptibility loci in CTLA-4, TSHR and major histocompatibility complex regions. The information on the association between the human leukocyte antigens (HLA...
